By Mika Koskinen and Heta Okkonen
Hello from Lille, France! Here we are attending Video mapping workshop together with students from different European animation schools, from Belgium, Great Britain, Denmark and Hungary. And of course from Finland – Turku. Workshop is part of EU – Creative Europe Program funded EURANIM project.
During the workshop students are learning the basics of video mapping technic and they also produce in small groups of students a piece of work/animation which is projected or mapped on different kind of objects. These piece of works/animations are shown to audience during Festival International du Court Metrage, Lille International Short Film festival. Exhibition will have it´s opening on 14th September. Besides these animations will also be shown later in autumn in Leeds Film festival.
We arrived here on Sunday 6th of September via Brussels where we spent one day. We were lucky because in Brussels there were at the same time international comic festival. During festival visit we saw Tintin and of course Smurffs. In the evening we took a train to Lille, France. Only half an hour and we were there.
Monday was the first day of workshop. We got to know our teachers and other students and learned the basic ideas of what was going to be. Just on the same day we were already inventing ideas of what we would like to do. The main theme for video mapping workshop was the History of the Future.
Second day we were grouped into different groups according to our skills and knowing so that every group consist of different abilities and know how. Each group were given one object on which mapping would be projected. From now on everything will be hard work so that animations will reach dead line.
