Taru Riskilä & Anni Oja: Puppet animation the Dress ( working title)
Our short puppet animation (currently going by the working title “the dress”, or additionally “the puppet thing”) is in the process. Puppet animation is about a servant and a woman with a mysterious dress.
We are at the moment waiting for shooting and lighting- and the basics of puppet animation- classes to start, while we are finishing our puppets and set. The puppets are all handmade, from the aluminium wire armature to the clothes. Before the summer 2012 we practiced creating the puppets by making a bunch of prototypes which eventually ended up as the minor characters in the movie. We are yet to complete the protagonist, as he is still missing his head.
We also have started to make the set, which in our case is a lofty rococo styled room. After designing the layout of our room, we scavenged the school’s prop stock where we found all our walls and most of the floor moldings&stuff. After a lot of measuring, sawing and painting, the walls are almost ready.
We finished our storyboard with much needed help from a teacher and are now ready to start planning our call sheets and production schedules.
Puppet animation Dress (working title) is a short puppet animation exercise film made by Anni Oja, Taru Riskilä, Markus Tervola, Sini Pietiläinen and Miira Tonteri. Puppet animation will be be ready in February 2013.
