A Few Words about Women continue to be seen at the Turku Castle until March 2020

28.08.2019

A group of Turku Arts Academy film students created extraordinary short films for the successful exhibition A Few Words about Women. The films depict the lives of women who lived in Turku Castle, in 17th century Turku.

The colourful lives of the women paint a picture of a time when perceptions of how girls should be brought up, what women’s status was, what was considered appropriate behaviour for women, and love and marriage in general were controlled by society and the church.

The films were directed by Laura Malinen and cinematographed by Sonja Tolonen.
