 In summer 2014, Joel Autio’s work ‘Weep not for me, O mother’ was nominated as the Best Foreign Film at the TENT Academy Awards 2014 in Rotterdam. In December,  met him at the opening of TENT Academy Awards 2014 exhibition in Helsinki and asked him to talk about the past year and his future plans.
The interview was filmed at Kuva/Tila, where the TENT Academy Awards exhibition is on show 5.12.–21.12.2014. Interviewer: Riikka Thitz / Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux.

Joel Autio. An Introduction:

On Friday 8 May 2015 at 17:00 hrs, the young Finnish filmmaker Joel Autio presented his Artist Talk Event (The Future of Joel Autio) at Het Wilde Weten. In conversation with Yasmijn Jarram, arriving curator of Garage Rotterdam, he elaborated on his work, ambitions, and the Finnish art scene. Finland has a strong tradition of internationally renowned film and video artists such as Erkka Nissinen (now exhibiting at Hallen Haarlem) Pilvi Takala, Aki Kaurismäki, and Eija-Liisa Ahtila. How’s does Autio fit into this lineage?
